For the self-employed · WhatsApp → your own Google Drive

Send Docket the receipt. That is the filing done.

Docket is a contact in WhatsApp. Photograph a till receipt or forward an invoice PDF, and it lands in your own Google Drive — read, named, and filed under the month printed on it, not the day you finally sent it.

7 days free. Card up front, nothing charged until your Drive is connected and working.

Your Drive. Your files. We never keep a copy.

This is the whole product

There is no app, no dashboard and no form. You send a document and it goes where it belongs.

The reply always names the folder it used and links straight to the file.

Your accountant is going to ask you for this anyway

Every January the same message arrives: can you send me everything for the year. The answer is usually a carrier bag, a camera roll and an evening you were not planning to spend.

  • Documents are already in dated folders, so there is no sorting stage — link march sends one month.
  • export writes a CSV of every document in a period: date, vendor, total, currency, category.
  • Your accountant gets a folder they can open, rather than a conversation about what is missing.
  • A receipt photographed in March that is dated last November files under last November, where it belongs.

What Docket is not

It is not tax software, and it does not file anything with HMRC

Making Tax Digital for Income Tax applies to self-employed people and landlords over £50,000 from April 2026, dropping to £30,000 in 2027 and £20,000 in 2028. HMRC requires a digital record of each transaction's date, amount and category. It does not require you to scan the receipt, though it accepts images.

Docket does not submit quarterly updates and is not HMRC-recognised software. What it does is capture that record at the moment the receipt exists — the date printed on the document, the vendor, the total, the currency and the category — and put the file in your own Drive. Then export hands the whole period over as a CSV.

The digital record has to be kept in MTD-compatible software, and your accountant or that software files the return. Docket is the step before: it makes sure there is a complete, dated set of records to file it from.

Why it is different

  • It is your Drive

Not our storage with an export button. The folders are created in your Google account, and if you cancel tomorrow every document stays exactly where it is.

  • Filed by the document date

Photograph a receipt from last November and it files under last November. Filing by upload date is what makes an archive useless at tax time.

  • It reads the document

Vendor, total, currency and date come off the receipt or invoice itself — a phone photo works as well as a PDF. Nothing to type, nothing to tag.

  • Ask what you spent

Because the numbers were captured on the way in, report q1 2026 is a WhatsApp message rather than an afternoon with a folder.

  • Sends twice, files once

Forwarding the same invoice again is recognised rather than filed twice, so the archive stays worth trusting.

  • Nothing kept, nothing trained

The file is read in memory, written to your Drive and dropped. It is never used to train a model and never shared.

Three steps, once

Setup is a link on your phone. After that it is only ever WhatsApp.

  1. Say hello on WhatsApp

Message the bot and it sends you one setup link. Pick a plan, name the folder you want documents in, and connect Google Drive. Two minutes, on your phone, once.

  2. Send a document

A photo of a paper receipt, a forwarded PDF invoice, a bank statement. It reads the file itself — there is nothing to type and no form to fill in.

  3. Find it already filed

It lands in your Drive under the month printed on the document and the category it belongs to, with a sensible filename. The reply carries a link straight to it.

Sixteen folders, and it cannot invent a seventeenth

Every document lands in one of a fixed list. The category is constrained at the model level, so a strange document gets filed as Other rather than somewhere imaginary.

Pricing

Every plan does everything. The only difference is how many documents a month, and 7 days are free.

  • Starter

    $9 /month

    50 documents a month

    • Filed to your own Google Drive
    • Receipts and invoices read for you
    • Spend reports and CSV export
  • Business

    $39 /month

    1000 documents a month

    • Filed to your own Google Drive
    • Receipts and invoices read for you
    • Spend reports and CSV export

7 days free on every plan. Cancel any time — your documents are already in your Drive.

Starter is roughly fifteen minutes of a tradesperson's charge-out rate. The comparison worth making is not against accounting software — it is against the evening you spend looking for a receipt you already paid for.

What happens to your documents

  • Documents go to your Google Drive, under a folder you name.
  • We never keep a copy — the file is read in memory and dropped.
  • Your documents are not used to train any AI model.
  • Disconnect any time with logout, and keep every file.

Questions people ask first

Where do my documents actually go?

Into your own Google Drive, in a folder you name. Nothing is stored on our servers — the file is read in memory, uploaded to your Drive, and dropped. You can revoke access at any time and keep every document.

How are the folders organised?

Your root folder, then a month folder, then the category: for example Documents/03-2026/Receipts. The month comes from the date printed on the document, not the day you sent it, so a receipt from last year files under last year.

What can it read?

PDFs and photos — PNG, JPEG, WebP and HEIC — up to 15 MB. A phone photo of a paper receipt works as well as a PDF invoice; the AI reads the image itself rather than relying on text extraction.

Does it understand what is on the receipt?

Yes. It pulls out the vendor, the total, the currency and the document date, and files by that date. That is what makes 'report march' possible later, and it is why sending the same receipt twice is recognised as a duplicate rather than filed again.

Can I ask what I spent?

Send 'report' for this month, or 'report last month', 'report march', 'report q1 2026', 'report 2026'. Send 'export' for the same period as a CSV saved to your Drive.

How do I find something I filed months ago?

Send 'find shell' and you get every document from that vendor, newest first, each with a link straight to it in Drive. It searches the vendor, the category and the filename across everything you have filed. Add a month to narrow it: 'find shell march'.

Do I need to install anything?

No. It is a WhatsApp contact. There is no app to download, no account to create and no password — you connect Google Drive once from your phone and then you are just sending WhatsApp messages.

What access does it have to my Google Drive?

Enough to create your folders and write files into them. It does not read your existing Drive contents. You can disconnect at any time by sending 'logout', or from your Google account's security settings.

Are my documents used to train AI models?

No. Documents are sent to Google's Gemini API only to be read and categorised, and are not retained by us afterwards.

Is there a free trial?

Seven days. Your card is collected before you connect Drive so setup is one uninterrupted flow, but nothing is charged until the trial ends — and if you never finish connecting Drive, the trial is cancelled for you.

Does this do my tax return?

No. Docket is not tax software and does not file anything with HMRC. What it does is capture the digital record HMRC wants — the date, amount and category of each transaction — at the moment the receipt exists, and put the document in your own Drive. Then `export` hands the period over as a CSV for whoever files the return.

Will my accountant accept this?

It is the format they already ask for: dated folders of the original documents, plus a CSV with the date, vendor, total, currency and category of each one. Send `link march` for a single month's folder, or `export` for the spreadsheet. The files live in your Drive, so you can share a folder rather than email an attachment.

Send it your worst receipt

Crumpled, badly lit, in another currency — or a twelve-page invoice. It files those too, and if it cannot read the total it says so instead of guessing.
