Who it is for

The carrier bag, solved at the client's end

You do not have a bookkeeping problem. You have a client-behaviour problem, and every tool you have recommended so far has asked the client to change more than they were willing to.

Why the last recommendation did not stick

Compliance is inversely proportional to how much you ask of someone at the moment they are holding the receipt.

  • Portals and apps get installed in January and abandoned in February.
  • What actually arrives is a bag of paper, or a folder of camera-roll screenshots with no dates.
  • Every hour spent sorting and keying is an hour you cannot bill as advice.

What arrives instead

  • A Google Drive folder per month, per category, in the client's own account — shared with you, not locked in a vendor.
  • Documents filed by their own date, so a period folder is actually that period.
  • A CSV per period on request: export q1 2026.
  • Documents the AI could not read fully are flagged with review rather than quietly guessed at.

Working with us

We are not trying to be a cheaper Dext. Dext works, and at fifty clients it is not expensive. The problem it does not solve is the client who never opens it.

  • Capture tools are billed to the practice — Dext runs about £21 per client at ten clients and about £8 at fifty. Docket is billed to the client, so it does not sit on your software line at all.
  • Nothing to deploy, nothing to administer, no seats to reconcile — your client adds a WhatsApp contact and carries on using WhatsApp.
  • The Drive folder is theirs and they share it with you, so leaving your practice costs them nothing and leaving a vendor costs them nothing either.
  • We will set up a referral arrangement and send you a one-page handout you can forward to a client list.

Email docket@baansoftware.com and say which practice you are with.

The part that matters most

The documents are written into your Google Drive, in a folder you named. Not our storage with an export button — your account, your folders, your files.

  • We never keep a copy. The file is read in memory, written to your Drive, and dropped.
  • Your documents are never used to train an AI model.
  • Send logout to disconnect at any time and keep everything already filed.

Questions

Where do my documents actually go?

Into your own Google Drive, in a folder you name. Nothing is stored on our servers — the file is read in memory, uploaded to your Drive, and dropped. You can revoke access at any time and keep every document.

Can I ask what I spent?

Send 'report' for this month, or 'report last month', 'report march', 'report q1 2026', 'report 2026'. Send 'export' for the same period as a CSV saved to your Drive.

What if it gets a total wrong?

Send 'review' to see the documents it could not read fully, then 'fix 182.50' to set the total on the last one you sent. The file in Drive is renamed to match. Filing is never blocked on a number it could not read — the document still lands in your Drive either way.

Are my documents used to train AI models?

No. Documents are sent to Google's Gemini API only to be read and categorised, and are not retained by us afterwards.

Does this do my tax return?

No. Docket is not tax software and does not file anything with HMRC. What it does is capture the digital record HMRC wants — the date, amount and category of each transaction — at the moment the receipt exists, and put the document in your own Drive. Then `export` hands the period over as a CSV for whoever files the return.

Will my accountant accept this?

It is the format they already ask for: dated folders of the original documents, plus a CSV with the date, vendor, total, currency and category of each one. Send `link march` for a single month's folder, or `export` for the spreadsheet. The files live in your Drive, so you can share a folder rather than email an attachment.
